Zebra spiny eel (Mastacembelus zebrinus)

Description

The zebra spiny eel is a fascinating and elegant-looking large spiny eel, instantly recognizable by its striking zebra-like markings. With its long, slender body and inquisitive nature, it is one of the most exciting species for larger aquariums. Mastacembelus zebrinus swims calmly and majestically and feels particularly at home in naturally designed tanks with a sandy substrate, roots, and plenty of hiding places.

Since this spiny eel grows significantly larger than many other species, it is particularly suitable for large aquariums. Given sufficient space, it displays impressive exploratory behavior, yet remains peaceful towards larger tank mates.
