Senegal pike (Polypterus senegalus)

The Senegal bichir is one of the best-known and most robust species of its genus. It originates from West Africa and exhibits the typical, primeval appearance with an elongated body, armored scales, and single dorsal fin rays. This species is crepuscular and nocturnal, spending most of the day quietly on the seabed or in hiding places.
